FRISCO, Texas – Lamar’s Chastadie Barrs is the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. All Southland weekly awards are presented by MidSouth Bank.The senior guard claimed the honor after leading the Cardinals to a victory on the road over a ranked Texas A&M program. Barrs totaled 23 points over 36 minutes in the win while providing perfect clips from the charity stripe (3-for-3) and three-point range (2-for-2).Women’s Basketball Player of the Week – Chastadie Barrs, Lamar – Sr. – Guard –DeSoto, TexasBarrs led the Cardinals with a season-high 23 points in addition to four steals, four assists, seven rebounds in a 74-68 upset over No. 17 Texas A&M last Thursday (Nov. 29). Lamar’s result stands as the program’s fourth-ever victory over a ranked opponent and the first against the Aggies since the 1981-82 season (Jan. 16, 1982).
