Passive income isn’t necessarily about funding a luxurious lifestyle of beach holidays and Ferraris. It can be as simple as a little more money each month to help pay a mobile phone bill or cover a fancy meal out with a loved one. Here’s how I would plan to make £90 a month in passive income, by investing in dividend shares.5G is here – and shares of this ‘sleeping giant’ could be a great way for you to potentially profit!According to one leading industry firm, the 5G boom could create a global industry worth US$12.3 TRILLION out of thin air…And if you click here we’ll show you something that could be key to unlocking 5G’s full potential…What are dividend shares?Shares are effectively fractions of a company. When I buy a share, I basically own a tiny bit of that company. If the company generates profits, it can choose to distribute them as dividends. That doesn’t always happen. Companies may keep some funds back to use in their business. But dividend shares are ones that often pay out dividends. Dividends are never guaranteed, which is one reason I try to diversify my portfolio across a variety of shares and business sectors.Dividend shares as passive incomeI like dividend shares as a form of passive income. Unlike some passive income ideas, there really is little effort involved for me. Once I buy a share, I can sit back and watch the money come in when dividends are paid. I don’t have to set up an online shop. I don’t have to find customers. I don’t have to chase unpaid invoices.Unlike some passive income sources, though, I can’t start earning passive income with no money upfront. To buy dividend shares for passive income, I’ll need to have some money. This can be a lump sum, or it could be something I build up over time by putting a little money each month into a Stocks and Shares ISA.Doing the mathsHow much would I need to invest to try and generate £90 a month in passive income? That depends how much the shares I buy ‘yield’ – in other words, what percentage of the share price the dividend represents. If I buy shares with a yield of 1%, I’d need to invest £108,000 to generate £90 in monthly passive income. But if the shares yield 5%, I’d only need £21,600.Higher yields aren’t necessarily better, though. They can also be a danger signal that the market is worried a company’s payout level is unsustainable, for example, due to future profit declines. I never buy shares based on yield alone. I do some research to help me understand a company’s future prospects.Choosing the passive income ideasI’d try to reduce my risk by diversifying my share picks. But I would focus firmly on dividends. So, for example, there may be shares I think have growth prospects but don’t pay dividends. For passive income, I wouldn’t buy them.By contrast, I’d be willing to invest in companies that I think have limited growth prospects, such as National Grid and Imperial Brands, because of their attractive dividend yields. Using the average yield of 5% example above, I’d be looking to buy less than £22,000 worth of shares. I’d split the money between at least five business sectors for diversification, and choose no more than two companies in any one sector. Here’s an example of a passive income portfolio I could build on that basis. Our 6 ‘Best Buys Now’ Shares Enter Your Email Address Grab your free report – while it’s online. The Minister is accompanied by his wife.During the visit, which spans May 8 to 11, Minister Singh will be meeting with key Government and Opposition officials as well as members of the Indian Diaspora here in Guyana. A welcome reception was held on Tuesday evening at the Pegasus Hotel, where a meet-and-greet platform was created for the Minister to interact with the Diaspora, including Indian expatriates.Addressing the gathering at the reception, Minister Singh said that India was impressed with the success of its Diaspora across the world. The Indian State Minister went on to reflect on the lives of the indentured labourers – most of whom he noted came from his home state of Uttar Pradesh – saying that despite the difficulties and hardships faced, they managed to work and make their adopted land a better place for future generations.“The Indian Diaspora in Guyana now is the third or fourth generation of Indians who should be certainly proud of the modern Guyana, which their fore-parents have created along with their African descendants and others. The Government of India is certainly proud of you for your achievements in all fields, including business, politics, art, culture, sport, etc,” he stated.According to Minister Singh, this year will be a special year in the history of diplomatic relations between India and Guyana, which already enjoy excellent relations in both the bilateral and multilateral arenas. VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association will be in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver today, making the case to Madam Justice Miriam Gropper for an injunction to halt the upcoming proportional representation referendum in B.C.In late July, the ICBA filed for an injunction to suspend the Province’s upcoming referendum on proportional representation until its court challenge filed in June to the referendum’s legality can be determined. The ICBA says it believes the way the government has asked and structured the questions in the upcoming referendum is unlawful and undermines the purpose of a binding referendum, which is to determine whether a fully informed electorate supports adopting a new electoral system. The ICBA’s lawyer Peter Gall will argue that the referendum questions and process are illegal because they don’t present the public with a clear choice between the current electoral system and a defined system of proportional representation – as was the case in the two previous referenda held on this matter in 2005 and 2009.“We are strongly supportive of holding a vote to decide whether B.C. should adopt a new electoral system,” said ICBA president Chris Gardner. “While the provincial government has been trying to rag the puck on our case – using delay tactics to keep their flawed process going, we believe it is in the public interest to ensure this referendum is conducted in a fair, transparent, and lawful manner, given that it involves such a fundamental change to our democratic system.”The court hearing is scheduled to begin at the Vancouver Law Courts at 9:45 this morning.
New Delhi: Delhi BJP on Friday lashed out at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over his controversial tweet that depicted his party symbol, a broom chasing a “Hindu swastika”, saying it is a violation of the model code of conduct and aims at disrupting communal harmony. “The Aam Aadmi Party should be invalidated and strict action should be taken against it for attempts to incite communal tension,” BJP leader Vijender Gupta said. The tweet, posted late night on March 20, triggered an uproar on the social media, with the Twitterati slamming the Delhi chief minister for his post, prompting the ruling party to come out with a clarification saying it was not ‘Swastik’ but the Nazi symbol that the AAP leader had tweeted. Also Read – After eight years, businessman arrested for kidnap & murder”It is not only an objectionable tweet aimed at disrupting the communal harmony but also a violation of the model code of conduct. What is the kind of message he (Kejriwal) wants to send out? We demand that their party is invalidated and strict action taken against them for attempts to incite communal tension,” Gupta told reporters. The Delhi BJP on Tuesday alleged that the AAP was trying to incite communal tensions by “politicising the cow” and said it would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission. The BJP’s reaction had come on a tweet by AAP Lok Sabha poll candidate Raghav Chadha in which he wrote “door to door campaigning by BJP” and posted a photo of a cow and a calf standing at the doorstep of a house.
